hi,
i have a table with cells that are one of 3 different colors (green/yellow/red).
is there anyway that i can count lets say the total number of RED cells in A1:A10?

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
Why are they red? Did you manually color the cells or is it a result of Conditional Formatting?

they are manually turned Red.
I wish i could use conditional formatting but the program i'm trying to use (Xcelsius) doesn't allow for conditional formatting......so, i'm forced to do the coloring manually, and now, i need to somehow count them.

I'm sorry I don't know what Xcelsius is, but is there a condition you could write a formula to count by?

i guess that's what my question is.....if it's possible to count the cells that have certain colors.
if you're asking if there's 'another place' where there's a different 'condition' like 1, 2 or 3, then No, there isn't. i have the colors to work with.

No, what I am asking is what is the reasoning behind the different colors? Is it based on something?

based on all the searching i've been doing, it seems like counting colored cells with a formula is impossible in EXCEL!
