Hi there:

I have a list of thousands of dates, like 4/1/11, repeating and not in order. I don't care about the order but I am looking for a formula that will give me week number and year on the same cell, and/or month and year in the same cell so that I can do a pivot table later on.

I tried the following:
=week(A1),year(B1) but that won't work.
=mont(A1)&" - "&year(B1).

Ideally, I want something like week - month (i.e 1 - 5) and month - year (5 - 2011)

Thanks for the suggestions!

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Thanks much, Peter and James. Worked like a charm. I was close but couldn't figure it out.

This forum is excceptional!!!
