Hi,

If Yurchuns, Oleams (20023677) is in cell A1 you can paste this formula in B1 to get just the student number.

=MID(RIGHT(A1,10),2,8)

Look up text functions in excel help and there's lots of handy tricks.

With the Name/Number in A1:
Code:
=MID(A1,FIND("(",A1)+1,FIND(")",A1)-1-FIND("(",A1))

Try:

=MID(A1,FIND("(",A1),LEN(A1))

this will include the brackets too.
