I have a formula in a column in cell B2 that looks at cell D2 in another workbook and in cell B3 I want it to look down 8 rows to D10 then in B4 I want it to look down another 8 rows to D18 etc. Is there a way to do this? I tried using the fill option and a few other things with no luck.

Thanks

Excel Facts

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
You could use one of the following aproaches:

B2=INDEX(WorkbookReference$D$2:$D$1000,1+8*(ROW()-ROW($B$2))

B2=OFFSET(WorkbookReference$D2,7*(ROW()-ROW($B$2))

Copy down this formula and it should work. You can change the $D$1000 reference to fit your data.

ABCD
2111
3992
417173
525254
633335
741416

<colgroup><col><col><col><col><col></colgroup><thead>
</thead><tbody>
</tbody>

Worksheet Formulas
CellFormula
A2=OFFSET($D2,7*(ROW()-ROW($A$2)),0)
B2=INDEX($D$2:$D$1000,1+8*(ROW()-ROW($B$2)))

<thead>
</thead><tbody>
</tbody>

<tbody>

Thanks, I didn't realize my excel skills were this poor that I can't even apply your suggestions but I am looking forward to the teachings that trial and error will bring.
