I am going to try and explain this as best I can. Hopefully it will be clear enough for somebody to understand. :)

In cell A1 and A2 I have a list of exercises I choose from that are in a drop down list, lets say Sn and Squat. They are the same exercise but I can choose different exercises in each cell. I cell B1 and B2 is the total number of reps done for that exercise in A1 and A2.
On another sheet in the workbook I want to count the total number of reps for each separate exercise, Sn in cell A2 and Sqt in cell B2. I am trying to come up with a formula to do this. Also there could be a case where both cells contain the same exercise (A1 and A2 =Sn) on the original sheet. Can anyone help me please. Thanks a lot guys.

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Sounds like a job for sumif() or sumifs(). Something like
Sumifs(rangeSheet1B:B , rangeSheet1A:A, Excercice )
