Formula Legend?

Is there a resource that is like a "legend" that explains the formulas and what the formula is asking for? For example if I was to use the Offset function, the function asks for reference, rows, cols, height, width).
I know this is probably a very basic question, but I would really like to get a better understanding of the available functions Excel has.

Hi,

On the Excel Menu you should see the sigma (I believe is the name) symbol which will Automatically sum the selected area, immediately to the right of that you should see a downward pointed arrow, click here whilst on an empty cell then More Functions and it will bring up the lists of all the functions available and a breakdown of what they do and what they are made up of.

Thanks for the info...I will check out the link. I guess my question should have been "how" do you use the formulas in excel...the more obscure ones.
