Formula need to calculate "week of"

Is there an Excel formula that will provide the "week number" calculated from a specific date, i.e. September 22, 2011 is week number 32 (or whatever) of 2011?

It depends how you define week numbers (there are different ways) but Excel does have a WEEKNUM function

=WEEKNUM(A1)

where A1 contains a date.....

The "weeknum" function will work.

in the formula weeknum(cell reference, #) - the #1 is for weeks starting on Sunday and the #2 is for weeks starting on Monday. Sunday 10/2 is in week 41 for weeks starting on Sunday but only week 40 for weeks starting on Monday.
