I need the formula that would set up a date (will vary) in, lets say column D and then have column C be a date that is 45 days earlier.

Also, does Excel's formulas stay the same if using a newer version (Vista?)

Example:
Column C Column D
09/17/2007 11/1/2007

Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.

Hi

Welcome to the board

Can you not just delete 45 from the date in question

Code:
=C1-45

For 45 days earlier

Hi chascy:

Welcome to MrExcel Board!

In the following I have elaborated what Dave3009 has proposed ...

<html><head><title>Excel Jeanie HTML</title></head><body>
Excel Workbook
BCDE
19/17/200711/1/2007
Sheet7

</body></html>

This should work in all versions of EXCEL.

Formula Still Needs Tweeking

Thank you for your assistance. I neglected to mention I'm fairly new at Excel and better in English than Math. :)

Yogi/Dave, when I plug in that formula in Cell C. It just sits there. It does not convert it.

I should go to formulas, yes? I did and chose "Date and Time". The drop down box gives me a plethora of choices. I do not know where to go from here.

Hi Charlynn:

If you key-in 11/1/07 in cell D1, it will be entered as a DATE in cell D1;

in cell you should key-in ...

=D1-45

then press the ENTER key.

If it works for you now ... GREAT -- otherwise post back what is the result in cell C1, and then let us take it from there.
