I've just switched from 03 to 07 and ham having trouble with a formula.
I have a date in cell b11 and in c11 i want it to just add one day.
So I have =b11 + 1 but instread of adding a day it adds a month.
It was never a problem in 03 but now in 07 it is.
How do I write the formula to add a day not a month?

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.

Post an example of the date you have entered in B11 and the result you get with the formula.

Maybe you're confusing the day and month?

1/1/2011
2/1/2011

Without knowing what date format those dates are you could say that I've either added 1 day or 1 month to 1/1/2011.

The 2nd date could be either Jan 2 2011 or Feb 1 2011.

The next cells are adding a month, these is Australian dates not american.
People are asked to put the date in the red cell.
Tuesday should be 5/4/2011 etc etc

Change the format of all those cells to General and see what the sequence of numbers are.

See if these are the values you get:

Book1
ABCDEF
1406374063840639406404064140642

I don't understand how you could get a #VALUE! error by simply changing the cell format.

In Excel dates are really just numbers formatted to look like dates. For example, today is Apr 3 2011 (4/3/2011 in m/d/y format).

If you enter the date 4/3/2011 in a cell, Excel recognizes that as a date and applies a date format to the cell. However, the true value of the cell is a number. You can see the number value by changing the cell format to General.

The true numeric value for the date 4/3/2011 is 40636.

So, if you change the format of all those date cells you can see if the dates are really 1 day apart or 1 month apart.
