I have a quick question. I dont know exactly what this would be called so I unfortunatley could not search.

Basically, I have 2 sheets.

Example

Sheet 1

1 A
2 B
3 C

Sheet 2

2 ?
2 ?
3 ?
1 ?
1 ?
2 ?
3 ?
2 ?

What I would like to do, is replace column b on sheet 2 w/ the corresponding information from sheet 1.

Answer would be like this:

2 B
2 B
3 C
1 A
1 A
2 B
3 C
2 B

But a simple IF would not work for me because I have about 100 different variables.

Any help would be appreciated.

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
In case the values in column A are not index values (positions pointing to column B)...

B1, Sheeet2

=INDEX(Sheet1!$B$1:$B$3,MATCH(A1,Sheet1!$A$1:$A$3,0))

Here's another one...

Assuming your data on Sheet1 is in the range A2:B4.

Your data on Sheet2 is in the range A2:A9.

Enter this formula in Sheet2 B2 and copy down as needed:

=VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet1!A$2:B$4,2,0)
