Hi guys,

Is there a way to embed the contents of a cell into a formula?

For Example:

Lets say the content of Cell A1 = 7 and B1 = 3

I wanted to write a VLOOKUP that references the content of these cells within the formula

VLOOKUP($B5,$U$CELL_A1:$V$CELL_B1,2,FALSE)

Is this possible?

Using a mouse in Excel is the work equivalent of wearing a lanyard when you first get to college
Use the INDIRECT function
=VLOOKUP($B5,INDIRECT("$U$"&A1&":$V$"&B1),2,FALSE)

Test in a separate cell befoore putting it inside vlookup to see if the string is correct
=INDIRECT("$U$"&A1&":$V$"&B1)

The values supplied in post1 return the following string, which looks unusual
$U$7:$V$3

you probably want this
$U$3:$V$7

amend the string inside INDIRECT or switch the values A1 = 3 and B1 =7
