Formula Question

Hello everyone,

I am hoping someone smarter than I can possibly help with this one. I have tried to use algebra to explain but it's been years since I have used it so it probably sucks =( I'll be very grateful if anyone can help!

I am looking for a formula/table that can do a distribution. I will have an intial amount that will need to be distributed as follows:

1st amount: x needs to be distributed to y number of people (making the individual amount x/y)
2nd amount: (total-x)*0.175 (17.5 % of the remaining amount)
3rd amount: is distributed to b people and should be (x/y)/2 per person

The total of these three should be the same as the total.

I'm, losing track, can you say what your starting total might be and how that will be distributed? You said the the total of X needed to be distributed to Y number of people x/y if thats the case then what will be remaining? are you talking about if there were 10 people getting 2 parts each from a total of 21.....the 1 thats remaining? or would 10 people get 21 divided equally amongst them, and if tthat's the case what would be left?

What your asking for will make more sense if we have some data to look at

I'm not clear on which of the variables are known and which need to be calculated. Do you have values for the Total and x, y and b?

x is the amount that will be distributed to the first group and will vary
y is the amount of people in the first group that should receive a piece, this will also vary
b is the number of people in the last group which will also vary but they each need to receive half the amount of the individuals in group 1

All of these are variables but I will have all that data each time it is calculated. The only thing that will need to be calculated is the amount per individual in each group and how much the 17.5 % piece is in the second distribution

If x is in A2, y in B2 and b in C2 then you can calculate the amount paid to each member of the first group with

=A2/B2

and the amount for each member of the second group with

=A2/B2/2

and the VAT with

=A2/B2/2*C2*17.5%/(1-17.5%)
