Formula showing insteaad of result

Hi ,

Im using vlookup from a range in another workbook and it only shows the formula not the result. Now the thing is the cell below is the same and it work!!! I have tried and checked formats in both books and they are idenitical but having no joy. Even if i open the 2 files and only use the vloopup that way it still shows the formula in some cells.Baffled.

Cant attach as work pc.

Any help would be pleased.

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Also, check to make sure the cell in question isn't formatted as text !!

cTRL+' only chages cell value to a copy of a cell above that works,

Both book are cells set to General (except where a date is required)

dont see whats up.

A little trick to try....provided by MVP PaddyD

1) Go to - Edit | Go to | Special | Formulas. Press OK
2)Go to - Edit - Replace...
3) Find: =
4) Replace with : =
5) Click Replace all

Is that replace with = or : =
I will try this shortly.

Sorry the version of excel is 2007 my mistake. :)

5) Click Replace all

SWEET!...That is a great trick to force formulas that have text format
