Ive never run into this before. In Office XP's Excel (2003?), I just did a formula for VLOOKUP using the wizard. But when I press enter instead of the formula result (or error) it just displays the literal formula. When I copy it down it doesnt change the cell values either and just copies the literal formula, unchanged. I reformatted the column to text to no avail. Ive done many VLOOKUPS before both with and without the wizard with no previous problems. Please help.

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce

It sounds like the cell(s) are formatted as text.

Change the format to General then re-enter the formula.

I dont know that was the actual problem though certainly plausible. I had went ahead and copied the values to a new sheet and it was fine then, text or not. But thanks just the same Biff.
