Formula to return value of last cell in column

Is there a formula that will return the value of the last non empty cell of a column?

Hi ChrisA:

I am going to assume the values are all in numeric and the column is A ...

=INDEX(A:A,MATCH(9.99999999999999E+307,A:A))
