I have a simple spreadsheet that contains data for the 12 months of 2008 and is being updated each month of 2009.

I need a formula that will evaluate the following ratio: current month's figure divided by the average of the previous 3m, 6m and 12m. For example, for the ratio of February the following ratio must be calculated:

- Jan+Feb 2009 / (Average of Nov+Dec+Jan)
- Jan+Feb 2009 / (Average of Aug+Sep+Oct+Nov+Dec+Jan)

and so on.

I need a formula that could calculate the above ratios.

Any help is appreciated.

Is there a specific cell, row, or column that has data for each of these months? How is your data laid out, so we can help.

All data are in one row. First the 12 months of 2008 and then each month of 2009 will be updated manually. I need the formula to be updated when I input the data.
