Hello this is my first post and i am also new to formulas in excel.

I am looking to use a formula in 2 seperate cells that will look at 2 total figures in 2 seperate cells, and return the higher value to both of the cells. so if the 2 cells we are looking at read

£25500 and £22350

I would like the formula to return a value of £25500 in both cells.

I appreciate any help at all.

Use the =MAX function to return the maximum value of a range of cells

Try the MAX function

=MAX(A1,B1)

Hi, sorry to be a pain, but i need to use another formula to work out the next part of my spreadsheet.

I need a formula that looks at 2 cells, and see which is the smaller cell, use that value and add it to another cell to get a total.

That would be the MIN function. (same syntax as the MAX)

=MIN(A1,B1)+C1

Hi I would like to do something different with the formula,

I would like to use a formula in 2 seperate cells to look at other seperate 2 cells and decide which one is larger and leaving this one cell with a zero value and the value in the other cell which will be lower i want to get the formula to look at abother cell for a value to add to the lower value giving a total.
