hi all,

how do you add fractions?

example
Cells A1 A2 A3 A4
1/3 + 4/10 + 25/40 = 30/53

thanks in advance

Have you got numeric values in the cells (ie they are just formatted to display as fractions)? If so then you can just use SUM():

=SUM(A1:A3)

I would check your maths though cos that isn't what I get with those numbers!

Same as any other number =SUM(A1:A3)

But the results will be nothing like yours, remember fractions are proportional so your example would be

1/3 + 2/5 + 5/8 = 4/3 (1 1/3)
