freeze panes eats comments

I've got the top row of a WS frozen because the cells are the headings for the columns.

The headings have comments describing what the columns are etc. Sometimes they are quite big comments with instructions.

When the rows beneath the top row are scrolled, any comment boxes which extend below the freeze line get chopped up. Is there any way round this.

I've tried making the comments wider and shallower but then they go off the edge of the WS. I don't want to use validation because the headings don't get selected.

I don't know of solution, but if it makes you feel better I have the same problem.

Of course it makes me feel better - but also worse - somehow.
