Frequent program crashes

I am currently experiencing frequent excel program crashes. I am using an eMAC running OSX 10.2.8 (most recent update) with 628 Meg RAM - only a few months old. I am using excel v 10.1.5 (also most recent update).

My workbook has multiple worksheets, and contains a number of macros that are used on a regular basis. Many of the worksheets contain pivot tables linked to a central data worksheet.

Crashes are more frequent when other programs are running which suggested a memory allocation problem. OS X does not seem to allow increased allocation of memory.

In addition by the end of a day using the workbook I often lose the print on the worksheet tabs. On restarting the computer the print is not restored, however the following day it usually returns.

Any suggestions to resolve these problems would be greatly received.

Thank you
