Is there a custom function to show the actual number format name in a cell.

For example, if the format in the cell is "0.00" I would like the cell to display number.

If the cell format was "$0.00" I would want the cell to display currency.

Is there a custom function that can do this?

Thank you for your help,

Michael

Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
thanks Mike. I already found that article. I am using the Get.Cell(7, A1) in the Name manager. Is there an argument for actually showing the text name of the format category. I was looking for format name but didn't see anything listed. Did I miss something? This is why I though of a worksheet function instead. otherwise, I would use the Get.Cell function.

I could use the cell function but I would have to have another formula to make it from the representation to the actual name.

Thank you for your help,

Michael
