I know this is probably simple but I cannot find a way to derive a cell reference. For example, I want to retrieve ABC from cell A5.
I can develop "A" and I can devlop "5". I can paste them together to get "A5" but I cannot find a way to use the derived "A5" to retrieve ABC from cell A5.

Any ideas?

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
Further to Paddy's post

if A5 contains "ABC", and
A6 contains "A" & A7 contains "5"

=Indirect(A6&A7) will return "ABC"
