get date into text string

I need to pull a date into a text string, when I use

=a1&b1&c1

where b1 is a date, the serial value of the date is applied to the string. I need the text to be the displayed date (mm/dd/yyyy). Many thanks...

Try...

=A1&TEXT(B1,"mm/dd/yyyy")&C1
