Good afternoon,

Is it possible to get text from a certain position? When I write a date, like 11-10-2021, I need to get these into another cell like this 2021-10-11, so the other way around and I can not use the date cell format. So I need to read the position like 11 is position 1 and 2 etc. Can this be done?

Thank you for your time,

Romano

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Try for Data in cell A1

Excel Formula:
=CONCATENATE(YEAR(A1),"-",DAY(A1),"-",MONTH(A1))

Solution
I can not use the date cell format.
Why not?**
Below, you can see from the formula that the cells contain the same value. I have just formatted the columns with custom date formatting.

21 10 19.xlsm
AB
111-10-20212021-10-11
Date format
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
B1B1=A1

** Perhaps it is that you are looking for a text value in the second cell rather than a numerical date value?
If so, you could try this simpler formula instead
Excel Formula:
=TEXT(A1,"yyyy-d-m")

Good evening,

The reason why I do not want to use the date format is because I will be exchanging this sheet with Dutch and English users and I know from the past that date formats do not always go right. The solution above here works for me. Thank you for your input.

Thanks for the additional information. (y)
Just noting again though that you can get the same result with a single function, as shown at the bottom of post #5, instead of calling on four separate functions. :)
