First of all id like to say that this board has helped me out a lot. I had never made a post before as my question had been answered Just by reading, however im stuck on this one.

I am trying to set up a hockey pool that will update stats from the web. The problem is it is dl-ing the whole page insted of the information I want. Is there anyway I can select just part of a table rather than the whole thing, or else getting it from a regular html source.

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Hi
Very limited knowledge here.
I am assuming that you are using the Web Query. It seems that you must specify the table(s) using HTML to narrow your returns. Another option I use is to go ahead and import the entire page on one sheet and then link the cells which include the specific data you are interested in to another location. This may or may not help you but nobody else has replied.

As far as I'm aware, only xl XP (2002) has the ability to select individual tables/sections of data. And very nice it is to, simply a matter of ticking the boxes you need.
What I can do is if you send the Workbook to me and give me the Address of the site and the table you need, I can have a look.
It will work quite happily on 97 and 2000 after that.

I will have to try at home tonight so it may be a while, but if it helps.
