Global variables in Excel?

Please, can anyone help with the following problem?

I need to know how, and where, to declare a variable that will be used across many sheets and procedures within one workbook.

The workbook contains three sheets.
The first sheet has a login button on it.
The login button activates a form which contains two text boxes for the User ID and Password.
I want to keep the User ID in memory for use with actions performed by other buttons and forms.

Declare the variable using Public rather than Dim, in the Declarations section of a Public module.
