I am attempting to set up goal seek, and it keeps finding a negative number, no matter how many different ways I try to set up the formulas. I have added photos so maybe someone could help me? Thanks in advance!!

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
Ok my pictures are not uploading for some reason.. I have income for 2 months, % of income invested, and total profit
month 1: 12,500 50% 6,125
month 2: 24,500 40% 9,800
month 3: 50%
total: 36,750 15,925

goal: 25,000

So I change cell $I$5 to 25,000 by changing cell $G$4. It gives me a result of -335544.32

Hmm.. I'm still getting results of - #
Do I have to put formulas in all of the cells? I'm sorry I had a problem with this assignment also

First, I presume that 12,500 is a typo. 12,250 is 2*6125, and it is consistent with the totals.

Upload an example Excel file (redacted) that demonstrates the problem (with the initial contents in G4 before using Goal Seek) to a file-sharing website (e.g. box.net/files), and post the public/share URL in a response here. Test the download URL first, being careful to log out of the file-sharing website. (If you use box.net/files, ignore any preview error and just download.)

Caveat: Some participants object because they cannot or will not download files. But sometimes, the devil is in details that we cannot see in an image or posted data and formulas; especially in this case.
