I am running Excel 2002, and am trying to "Get External Data" from a website. I click the "Data" tab, hover over "Import external data", and select "New web query". The dialog box pops up but freezes everything, I can't enter a different URL, close the dialog box, close Excel, or anything, I have to "control/alt/delete" and close Excel that way. What am I doing wrong?

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
It might have something to do with your internet explorer settings. This issue would be much easier to troubleshoot by someone being there in person or remote controlling your computer so they can see your different system settings and whatnot. If that's not an option, you should trying doing internet searches for things like "Excel web query freezing" and try out different things that you find.

Thanks for the response! I changed my home page in IE and that allowed me to change the URL in the Web Query dialog box. Before that, it was going to "MySearchResults" (Google search I assume) and was using so much of my PC's resources, or Excel's resources, that nothing could be done with the mouse, and I was forced to "Control/Alt/Delete" and end the Excel instance through the Task Manager.
