Graph question - hidden cells

I am using a waterfall chart in a workbook that is linking to hidden cells on another tab within the same workbook. I have created many graphs within this same workbook, and have always been able to select the "Hidden and Empty Cells" button, in order to ensure that the chart data still is visible when the cells are not. However, on this new waterfall graph, the "Hidden and Empty Cells" button is grayed out, and I can't seem to figure out how to make it work. If anyone can help me figure out what I need to do to make this work, I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
There are a number of areas where Microsoft's waterfall graphs could be improved and their inability to handle hidden and empty cells is one of them. I'm afraid you'll have to create a cheater's version with stacked columns like we used to do before 2016 if you need that feature.

I was afraid of that. I thought my inability to format the axis labels was going to be my biggest complaint with the new waterfall charts. I stand corrected. :)

Thanks for the response.
