Hi,
I am working on an area graph with 2 data series and I want to make the color in the foreground transparent. I have currently tried to Format Data Series --> Fill Effects --> Gradient, however I am unable to adjust the transparency. Do i need to select something to be able to adjust this field?

Currently working with Excel 2003 SP3

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Thanks for the quick reply Sal!

Found a couple of posts about this - one using VBA the other using transparency defined in an Auto-Shape, then copied into the fill for the chart series.

Both look viable.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the help on this. I was using an area graph and have just decided to change it up. I like the work around though for future graphs!

This page existed in 2009. It is an old obscure workaround, and since Excel 2007 it has been possible to format the chart elements directly to have transparent fills.
