Aug-06 Jul-06 Jun-06 May-06 Apr-06 Mar-06 Country
1562 1734 1469 1608 1346 954 COMC
175 216 170 217 205 128 COMC

ie mar06 value should be on the left and aug-06 value on the extreme right . i am using the graph "line - column (custom graph)"

I am not sure that this cannot be done but the lack of responses so far is not promising. So what about reversing the data and then graphing? Here is a way to do the reversing:

Formula in A7 (copied across and down):
=INDEX($A$1:$G$3,ROWS(A$7:A7),COLUMNS($A$1:$G$1)-COLUMNS($A7:A7)+1)
You may have to then format row 7 with the appropriate date format. Now try graphing A7:G9.

The order should be "corrected" by Excel if it recognises the dates as dates.

For a line chart, if you just plot the data, they will line up in date order -- as long as the dates ARE dates, not text.

You will then get the X-axis set up as you need.

If that doesn't work; try Peter's suggestion for reversing the values. Alternatively double-click the X-axis then, on the Scale tab, see it you can reverse values.

Denis, I found that the automatic correction failed once I moved from a simple line graph to the Custom Line - Column graph

If your dates are recognized as dates by XL and you want the dates in chronological order, select the chart, then Chart | Chart Options... | Axes tab. In there, make sure the Category (X) axis is set to 'time scale'.

If your dates are not recognized as dates or if you simply want everything in reverse order: Double-click the x-axis. In the resulting dialog box, in the Scale tab, check 'categories in reverse order'.

Tushar, thanks for the suggestion. First option worked because the dates are recognised by XL.

Thanks everyone for suggestion. I had already reversed the data and tried. Reason i am having latest data first is because every month I add new data and i need to pickup only 6 latest set of data. by keeping latest month data in the front all i need to do is insert column every month in the front and leave historical data still in the spreadsheet

Cheers
