If one clicks and ordinary unmerged unformatted cell with a mouse the cell and 2 sometimes 4 or 5 cells below it are highlighting. This is maddening and really slowing work down as I have to select it with the arrow keys to get it. Anybody have an idea what is causing it other than a silly operator?

Must be a overheadcabungulator tick box on the magnoinlet gizmo or something!

It went away for a while but its back! Seems to be related to some cells and not others.

Argh help please!

Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Welcome to the Board!

Try hitting F8. That behavior happens when Extend Selection (F8) is toggled.

Nope its not that although the result is similar. Tried F8 and shift F8 etc.

This is on a single click, without having used F8 it does it on some cells and then sometimes not on others. Naturally the ones its doing it to are the ones i need to work with.

eg click a cell and bang the 4 or 5 (it varies sometimes its 2) below it select as well.

This is so silly its almost embarrasing to ask help on.
