hi i have 80 teams and i want to randomly pick them in to 10 groups of 8 teams.

I have used the rand and rank and vlookup, but i get the same team in different groups, what can i do

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Hi

If you use =RAND() to return a random number in an adjacent column to the team names, then copy & paste values you could simply sort on the results of this column (either ascending or descending) and then you have your 10 groups every 8 rows.

I have done this and it works, but is there any why do put the results of the draw onto another sheet also is there any why to use a macro to do the draw when i press a shape as a button

Yes. Use Copy, Paste, or Copy, Paste Special, Values.
Or use a linking formula such as
Code:
=Sheet1!A1

Yes. Do the draw manually yourself, but just before you do it, use Tools, Macro, Record New Macro to record the steps you take and build them into a macro automatically. When you've finished the draw, use Tools, Macro, Stop Recording. Then draw a button and simply assign your new macro to that button.
