Hi again,
I'm trying to group daily information into weekly info but I keep getting a message that says "cannot group that selection". For example, the dates I have are 5/01/2005-5/20/2005. I have another column that is a whole number and I want to group the totals by week. I assumed I could accomplish this by right clicking on the "date" column and choosing the "group" function.

Thank you for the help,

Geoff

Windows 2k and office 2k.

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
may be u r right clicking after selecting the data.

select the dates to be grouped in the pivot table and then right click

(1) You must right click on the column header instead of clicking on data.
(2) There must be no blank cell in date column
(3) The date values must not be in text format.

Good luck.

Thank you mrchonginhk. It was a formatting issue, although it was not noticeable. The column header was "general" format and the dates were all in date format. When I selected the whole column, changed it to "general" and then back to "date" format, it worked.....got me??

Thanks again,

Geoff
