when typing in text, one can use Alt-Enter to create a hard carraige return to type text in paragraph form in a cell

can the same be done with numbers (formatted in currency for example) that would allow the retention of the number formatting?

ie
in a single cell:

$5,000,000
$3,000,000

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN

If you mean enter

500000 Alt Enter 300000

and format that cells as currency ? then nope. That cell holds text, not a number.
