Have Excel Count Number of Places Based on Decimal Value

Hi,

Has anyone had excel count the number of places based on a decimal value. For examle, if a cell displays 1.3, can excel determin that there are 13 places if you count by tenths? Does that make sense?

thanks both.....just didnt know if there was a formula where you could have it reference a cell where you tell it what you want to count

I think I am just overcomplicating something that is simple. I can divide by the .1 but I was just more wonder if there was a formula that would take its place. Thanks both for the responses
