Have excelsheet send out a console msg

Hi all i am new here and i need ur assistance i have this worksheet a credit memo that i would like to notify me by playing a sound or sending a console msg when a certain date is reached
in the sheet i have customers that have collected goods on credit and they arre supposed to pay in say 10 days i would like to create a formula that would do this on the excel sheet without my having to open the sheet

welcome 2 the board. I am sorry to inform you that neither vba nor any formula can operate without having the excel file open. If you learn WSH and events in Windows, you may be able to do this.

Since we are talking about calendar events, is there a reason you are not just using Outlook or some other calendar program to provide notification?

Hi tnx for the speedy reply i prefer the excel sheet as there are so many options available which you cannot find in most calender program like lotus
Tnx again for the info am gratefull
but i still wish that there was another way around this
any body got any other suggestions
