Hello,
This is my first posting within any forum with regards to anything Excel related. Hopefully this proves successful?
I'm currently attempting to create an Excel file that I can place on one of my Supervisor's desktop where he can input a certain date format within an existing cell (say I3) and by inputting that date in the correct format (YYMMDD) it will then automatically populate cell P3 with the correct formatted .DAT file name that I need to have VBA go out and grab out of our I:\Trace drive and folder name. This drive and folder name and location might change to something else possibly in the near future, but for now this is where it's located.
After the date has been entered correctly I wish for the Supervisor to press a button that I've created and placed in the worksheet that says "IMPORT". Upon the Sup pressing the button this is where I wish VBA to begin its work to identify the P3 info and import from there.
I can deal with the formatting of the file once it's imported, but I just need this hurdle completed first.
Anyone can help?
I'm also an absolute Novice level operator when it comes to VBA so please explain as much as possible in the English format so that I can understand what the code will mean when I have to write/re-write it.
Thank you so much in advance for any support offered. I'll try and reply as quickly as possible so as to not lose out on any supportive ideas along the way.
