Help! Advanced Filtering stopped working

Hi
I have excel 2007 and both of the Smart books for basic and expert Excel.
Recently ALL my advanced filters stopped working.
They just either leave a range as it is or copy the entire range to a new location depending on which option I choose.
Nothing is hidden from the list.
I am very confused and irritated. I retried the sample files from the book and they don't work either so is it some setting I have changed by accident?

Hmm ...

Is advanced filter the only feature of your excel version that doesn't seem to be working?

Have you tried testing exactly the same (i.e. copied) data that doesn't work on your computer on some other machine? Maybe post a simple sample of your non-working data on this forum if need be.

But take heart. Anything you can do with advanced filter you can also do without it. In my experience it anyway can become unreliable if you have around 40,000+ rows.

And if all else fails (maybe if your version of excel has become corrupted) you can always reinstall it.

But in the end you don't really give enough information for me at least to be able to give you a fully satisfying answer.

More details.

Yes it seems to be the only feature not working.
I had already repaired Office; no joy
I had trawled the net; no joy
I have a very small range 189 lines, some data validation colums; total columns: 5.
Search criteria only 1 or 2
Removed all formatting; still no joy
Set up even simpler range; still no joy
Used a basic lesson from Mike Smarts downloads; still no joy

Ran Malwarebytes (already use a paid firewall)

What other information do you need?
No other machine to test data on sadly but data is very simple.
