Excel 2007.

I have invoice dates running down column D (D9:D63). I have paid dates running down column E (E9:E63). In cell J1, I'd like to calculate the average number of days it takes an invoice to be paid for all clients where a date has been placed in either column D and/or E. I'd like to exclude any cells in columns D and E where a date has not yet been placed.

Thanks for any help.

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple

Control+shift+enter, not just enter:

=AVERAGE(IF(ISNUMBER(D9:D63),IF(ISNUMBER(E9:E63),E9:E63-D9:D63)))
