Okay, so I am not 'formula friendly'... I'm still learning. I have a spreadsheet listing towns that have submitted applications, so far there are only 6. We anticipate 100's more coming in. I want to count the total number we receive. Here is my spreadsheet info:

A2 to A400 will be town names. I want to make a formula to count all the names (even duplicate towns) and to not count the cells that are still blank. This way I can go in the spreadsheet at any time and see how many we have to date. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Thanks,
Cher

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
Oaktree,

That formula WORKED! You saved my life. MY HERO!

Thank you so very much, I have copied the formula into my notebook. Is there a cheat sheet somewhere... how in the world do you all learn this stuff?

I got an Excel for Dummies book and it made me feel more stupid!

Thanks again.

Among the best resources is to type = to start your formula, then press shift F3. That will bring up a list of all of Excel's formulas. Searching through that list might find that "perfect formula" for you.

Otherwise, you can always post here if you're stuck.

COOL, COOL, COOL, AWESOME, COOL...

Shift F3 is GREAT. Thanks for the priceless tip!!!!!

This board is the BEST... quick and correct answers. Better than any other board I have ever been to.
