My databases were working fine, then I got a new computer! The button I created to email a report in PDF format no longer works. When looking back at the macro the PDF option is no longer in the drop down list. I have Adobe installed and I'm still working from Access 2007 so what is the problem?

Also when I access any of my databases and then log out, a duplicate copy of the database is created in the same location. This never used to happen and I certainly didn't ask for it - any idea how to stop this from happening?

I think I might have solved the problem of not being able to create PDF formats - Help says I just need to install an add-in:

"NOTE You can export to a PDF or XPS format file from Office Access 2007 only after you install the add-in. For more information, seeEnable support for other file formats, such as PDF and XPS."

The other problem of creating duplicates databases on exit I think is something to do with that I have the database compacting & repairing on close automatically. Does anyone know how to stop this as I'm the only one with access to these?

Which version of Access are you using?
Are you asking how to shut off the "Compact and Repair on Close" option?

I'm using Access 2007. I didn't really want to turn off the compact & repair on close so is there anyway I can get around the duplicate database being created?

I am using Access 2007 also. Usually, it creates a temp database while it is doing the Compact and Repair, and then deletes it afterwards when it is complete. However, I have noticed some occassional bizarre behavior, like occassionally it deletes my database, and leaves the temp database (which it names Database.mdb).

I have noticed that most of the issues I experience are with running Access databases created in Access 2003 or earlier with an .mdb extension. You may want to try converting your database to Access 2007 so that it has a .accdb extension instead, and see if that corrects the problem.

Or if there is some sort of corruption with your database, you might want to create a new blank database and import all your objects, specifications, etc over to the new one and use the new one.
