help in excel - count function i guess

i have in row 3 - dates from cell c3 to ax
i have in row 5 below those dates .......in each cell 0 or 1..........
1 means i am in ...
0 means i am out.......

so row 5 looks like

0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0


what this is sayin to me is that .........i start at date oct 2004 and i am out on nov 05......

i want to be able to get these dates in cell ay and az in row 5......

how do i get that ????

pls help....

Try these formulas....

in AY5

=INDEX(C3:AX3,MATCH(1,C5:AX5,0))

in AZ5

=LOOKUP(2,1/C5:AX5,C3:AX3)

you may need to format these cells as dates
