I learn engeneering chemistry in Sofia university, so the second semester i have learned statistics. Now i have a coursework, witch includes a list of alcohols with indexes N[c], W, S[ox], X', X'^, TMand Tb witch is in Celsius.
First i need to find correlation between them, but i dont know how to approach.
Then, if is possible for some of these indexes to be in result of linear combination from other indexes
I'll need to find regression equation like T= bO+ sum(bx), where T is burning temperature, b are parameters obtained by the method of least squares and x are topochemical indexes
And the last one is "Is there any "jumping" points in the results?

Some pointers:

• If there are known relationships between the indices for each alcohol, you might get an idea of what relationships you should expect to find by looking in the textbook.
• An effective way of identifying trends and relationships is to put your data in a graph. For instance, a scatter plot with connected points, with 'number of carbons' as the independent variable, and the other parameters on the Y-axis, with a series for each compound.
• Once you've identified possible relationships, you could use the LINEST function to determine regression parameters

ok, but i don't understand relation between witch data? i mean relation between X' and X'^ or other relation?

Well, a relationship between any set of parameters... For instance, is burning temperature related to the number of carbon atoms, or their arrangement? What link do you expect to find between X' and X'^? (And would it be useful for us to know what they are?)
