Hello,

I'm having problems formating my Excel files. I have to go into some detail to get to my problem.

I set up a spreadsheet to calculate plumbing costs. I have prices and labour factors entered into the apropriate cells. Each page is linked to a recap which will give me a final price.

I've used this sheet for about 3 years, constantly revising and updating as needed. For the past little while, I've been getting an error notice, something like "Number of cell formats too high". Sometimes this error crashes the spreadsheet. I've tried removing some of unused cell formats, but this didn't help.

It can get set off by combing or formatting cells.

Has this ever happened to anyboby else?

Thanks,

Bob

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
Hi and welcome to the board!!

Per the WorkSheet specifications (from help files), you have
Custom number formats Between 200 and 250, depending on the language version of Excel you have installed.

You might be able, however, to use custom styles, which has a limit of 4000, but I don't really know if that will solve your problem.
Good Luck

I had the exact same issue once when I was using an excel file for over one year and often updating the numerous tabs etc. I was told the file was corrupted, so I pulled out a previous file and had to fill in the updates and discarded the corrupted file,,sorry a long solution
