is there a way to get excel, once it has calculated an answer in a cell, to then look in a table and return an answer from it?

i am calculating the ideal pipe size for a given flow but then want excel to select a size from a list of standard/available sizes.

Excel Facts

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
have a look at LOOKUP function

ie

LOOKUP(1.5,{0,1,2})

would return 1 as 1 is the biggest number in the array less than or equal to criteria value of 1.5

adding a result array
LOOKUP(1.5,{0,1,2},{"a","b","c"})

would return "b" as "b" is result associated to 1 as "a" is to 0 and "c" is to 2.

also see VLOOKUP and/or INDEX/MATCH.
