I need to put in column C
=sum(a1,b1) in C1
=sum(a2,b2) in C2

and to C infinity
cuz I dont know how long column A and B will be
what do I do so i dont have to type in the function in every C cells?
thanks

also I need one cell to add everything in column A
but the size of column A is not set, it will grow as I enter more number
so whatever I enter in A, should be keep adding
how do I do that?
thank you

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Hello and welcome to the board.

In C1 enter this formula

=SUM(A1:B1)

Put the cursor on the bottom right hand corner and double click, it should fill down to the last cell. Alternatively copy the cell down a known length which will always be greater than your data e.g. 1000 rows, or even to the last row, if needs be.

=SUM(A:A)

will add everything in col A.

Select C1 with the formula A1 + B1, hold the Ctrl button down, then drag down column C as far as you think is needed from the bottom right hand corner of C1.

Just do a sum formula of the whole of column A (1 to 65536 if you think you need that many) in the cell you want to display the total of Column A
