Help - Total Novice

help me please kind people of the forum!

I have a spreadsheet with column b 'Status', column r 'date' and column j 'value'.

What I need to do is total value of the entries where the date falls between each of the fiscal quarters for a particular status.

So I want to end up with
Q1 = $200.00 for status 4
Q2 = $500.00 for status 4

etc....

is this possible and if so how?

You can try for Q1:

=sumproduct(--($B$1:$B$10000=4),--($R$1:$R$10000>date(2007,12,31)),--($R$1:$R$10000<date(2008,4,1)),$J$1:$J$10000)

Ranges cannot be whole columns and must be same length. Hope that helps.
