I'm trying to use the IF function but it is not working

I want it to go to the value in D5 if it is over the amount I set

so if B1 2 February 2010

=IF(B1>=1/2/2010,D5,0)

it should equal d5 if it after B1 but 0 if before

but it doesn't and I can't figure out why

Excel Facts

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
I think you should be able to use the date's actual value.
=IF(B1>40180,D5,0)
