I have just created a pivot table in Excel 2009 and I noticed the word “sum of” appears in all value fields. In my data range, I have a column named “2011 additions“ but in the pivot table, Excel renamed it as “Sum of 2011 additions”. I want to get rid of “sum of” so I went into value field setting and deleted “sum of” in custom name but Excel give a message Pivot table field name already exist. I am not sure how this all works but could someone guide me on how to get rid of “sum of” from value fields. Thank you for your help.

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
